UAE marks 54th National Day with nationwide celebrations

United Arab Emirates is celebrating its 54th National Day today. Eid Al Etihad marks the historic unification of the emirates in 1971 under the theme “Spirit of the Union.” The day commemorates the federation formed by Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah under the leadership of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. Ras Al Khaimah joined soon after, in February 1972, completing the seven-emirate union.

Festivities are taking place across the country, with the official ceremony in Al Ain being live-streamed to designated viewing zones in all emirates. Celebrations include concerts, heritage exhibitions and fireworks at major landmarks, while cultural events at Al Shindagha Museum and Hatta Heritage Village highlight traditional Emirati customs alongside contemporary achievements. With a four-day weekend, residents and citizens are participating in community activities, decorating homes and public spaces in the national colours. On the eve of the celebrations, the Burj Khalifa was illuminated in the national colours, adding to the atmosphere across Dubai’s landmarks.
In the lead-up to the celebrations, the organising committee released the official Eid Al Etihad song for the 54th National Day. Titled “We Take Pride in You, Our Homeland,” the anthem reflects national pride, unity between the people and their leadership, and the core values of peace, tolerance and harmony that have shaped the UAE’s development.
