Typhoon Kalmaegi Moves Toward Cambodia and Laos After Hitting Central Vietnam

Typhoon Kalmaegi has now moved westwards toward Cambodia and Laos after tearing through central Vietnam yesterday with wind speeds reaching up to 149 km per hour.
According to the latest reports, the typhoon has killed at least 188 people in the Philippines and five in Vietnam.
 
 
Towns along Vietnam’s central coast were littered with debris this morning after taking the full brunt of the storm overnight. In Vietnam, more than 8,000 people were evacuated from storm-hit areas while 1.28 million households remain without power, according to local media reports .
 
Thousands of people sought shelter in schools and other public buildings as the army was deployed to help deal with the damage.
