Two people have been killed and three others injured in Abu Dhabi after debris from an intercepted ballistic missile fell on Sweihan Street, causing casualties and damaging several vehicles. Authorities said emergency teams responded swiftly to the scene, and the injured were taken for treatment. The identities of those killed have not yet been released, while officials confirmed that the situation was brought under control.

 

Earlier on Thursday, the Ministry of Defence said UAE air defence systems successfully intercepted incoming missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles launched from Iran. Officials stressed that the country’s air defence systems remain on alert and urged residents to rely only on official sources for information.

 

The ministry added that on March 25, UAE air defences intercepted nine UAVs launched from Iran amid continuing regional tensions. Since the start of the Iranian aggression, UAE air defences have intercepted 357 ballistic missiles, 15 cruise missiles and 1,815 UAVs targeting the country. With the latest incident, the death toll linked to falling debris has risen to eleven. Three UAE armed forces personnel were killed earlier in the line of duty, while six foreign nationals died in separate incidents. Officials also said a total of 166 people have been injured so far, with cases ranging from minor to severe, as authorities continue to monitor the situation closely.
