Two Maoists were killed in an encounter with security forces in Bijapur district, Chhattisgarh, on Thursday. Apart from the bodies of the killed Maoists, an AK-47 rifle, a 9 mm pistol, other weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the spot. District Superintendent of Police Dr. Jitendra Yadav said that a team of the District Reserve Guard, DRG, had launched a search operation after receiving information about the presence of Maoists in the southern region of Bijapur. During the operation, the Maoists ambushed the security team and opened fire on the security personnel. In the retaliatory action by the security forces, two Maoists were neutralised.
