Tourism Resumes in Mangan District of North Sikkim After Floods and Landslides

Tourism activities have resumed in the Mangan district in North Sikkim. Tourism has been on hold at Mangan since June this year following the floods and landslides. Additional Chief Secretary in the Tourism department, C S Rao, said that tourists could visit Lachung, Yumthang valley and Zero in Mangan district, but tourism will resume in January next year at Lachen.

Mr. Rao said that the Sikkim government is fully prepared to welcome the tourists, and necessary steps have been taken. He mentioned that landslide-prone roads in North Sikkim have been identified and repaired. The state government has already issued an advisory to the tourists and said that no travel would be allowed after sunset. In May this year, there were several landslides and road blockages at the Mangan district, which halted the tourism activities at important places, including beautiful Lachen and Lachung.
