A significant breakthrough in anti-insurgency efforts was achieved in Andhra Pradesh this morning, as security forces executed a precise and intelligence-driven operation against Maoist elements. Acting on confirmed inputs, the elite Greyhounds and state police launched a coordinated strike in the dense Maredumilli forests of Alluri Sitaramaraju district. The encounter, held between 6 and 7 AM, led to the neutralisation of six Maoists, including senior commander Madvi Hidma, his wife Madakam Raje, and four key members of his battalion.
Security personnel recovered a considerable cache of AK rifles, ammunition and explosives from the site. Postmortem examinations are underway. Police stated that Maoist cadres had recently attempted to shift their activities from Chhattisgarh into Andhra Pradesh, prompting enhanced surveillance and swift operational deployment.
In follow-up searches across Krishna, NTR, Kakinada, and Eluru districts, 31 suspects were detained. Combing operations continue. Authorities have urged the public to remain alert and cooperate fully with security agencies.
