Jammu region celebrates Independence Day by hoisting Tri colour

 
In Jammu and Kashmir the 79th Independence day was celebrated with great patriotic fervor across the Jammu region with the main function held at MAM Stadium where Dy. Chief Minister, Surinder Choudhary hoisted the tricolour and inspected the March Past. Our Jammu Correspondent reports that in his address Mr. Choudhary said it is the beauty of our constitution that gives us equal opportunity of growth and empowerment. Speaking about the government policies, he said the government led by Omar Abdullah is committed to the welfare of all sections of the society with a special focus of giving more opportunities to local youth in the employment opportunities. 
 
In Udhampur district, the main function was held at Government PG Degree College, (Boys) Udhampur, wherein District Development Council Chairman, Lal Chand was the chief guest, who hoisted the National flag and took salute from an impressive march past of 32 contingents drawn from J&K Police, SKPA, NCC and other Civil troops besides Police Band. 
 
Independence Day was celebrated with national spirit in the mountainous district of Doda also. However, in view of the human loss caused by a recent cloudburst in neighbouring Kishtwar district, the celebrations this year were marked by simplicity, with no music or cultural programmes. The main function was held at the Sports Stadium, Doda, where Chairman District Development Council, Dhanatar Singh, unfurled the national tricolour. hundreds of men, women, and children, along with officers and school students, participated in the ceremony. 
 
In Kathua  too, the Independence Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and national spirit at Sports Stadium. The celebrations were marked by the hoisting of the National Flag by Transport Minister, Satish Sharma, who also took salute at the impressive march past presented by the contingents of J&K Police, IRP, CRPF, Forest Protection Force, NCC cadets and school children. MLA Kathua Dr. Bharat Bhushan, DDC Chairman Col (Retd) Mahan Singh, Vice Chairman DDC Raghunandan Singh, Deputy Commissioner Kathua Rajesh Sharma, SSP Kathua Shobhit Saxena, DDC members, ex-servicemen, prominent citizens and a large gathering of students and locals were present on the occasion. Addressing the gathering, the Minister extended warm greetings to the people on the historic occasion and paid rich tributes to the countless freedom fighters and said 
 
In Poonch, Minister for Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology & Environment and Tribal Affairs, Javed Ahmed Rana, hoisted the National Flag at the Sports Stadium on the occasion of the Independence Day. The Minister inspected the ceremonial parade and took the salute, upholding the rich traditions and spirit of the national celebration. In his address, Javed Ahmed Rana expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives caused by the recent cloudbursts in Kishtwar district and and assured all helkp by the government.  He lauded Poonch’s illustrious legacy of courage and resilience, noting that the district continues to embody the spirit of unity and fortitude in the shared endeavour to build a stronger, more inclusive and equitable India.
The Independence day was also celebrated with great enthusiasm in  various areas of  Rajouri  district.  The main function was held at DPL Rajouri where DDC Chairperson Rajouri Naseem liaqat  hoisted the national flag and  took the salute, honoring the spirit of freedom, unity, and patriotism. A large number of school children and local residents participated in the ceremony. 
 
Like other parts of India, 79th Independence Day was also celebrated in Samba. The main function was organised by district administration Samba at Rani Suchet Singh Sports Stadium Arazi Samba where Chairman DDC Samba Keshav Dutt Sharma hoisted the National Flag and took the salute. About 20 march past troops salute tricolor flag included JKP, ITBP, IRP, Home Guards, NCC, Scouts and Guides, etc.On the occasion, DC Samba Ayushi Sudan, SSP Samba Varinder Manhas, DDC Members from Samba district,MLA’s and other senior citizens were also present during the function. 
 
District Development Commissioner (DDC) Reasi, Saraf Singh Nag, hoisted the National Flag at General Zorawar Singh Sports Stadium, Reasi, as the district joined the nation in celebrating the 79th Independence Day with patriotic zeal.
The ceremony witnessed enthusiastic participation from officials, students, and local residents, all united in honoring the nation’s hard-earned freedom. The celebrations began with the hoisting of the Tricolour, followed by the singing of the National Anthem.
In a solemn moment, the gathering observed silence and paid heartfelt tribute to the victims of the recent Kishtwar incident, expressing solidarity with their families. Addressing the gathering, DDC Reasi lauded the sacrifices of freedom fighters and urged citizens to work collectively for peace, harmony, and development. He emphasized the importance of unity in safeguarding the nation’s progress and called upon the youth to contribute positively towards society.
In Ramban, the main Independence Day function was held at DPL (District Police Line) , where the Chief Guest DDC Chairperson Dr. Shamshad Shan has hoisted the National Flag on 79th Independence Day.
