Timely diagnosis, quick referral & access to quality treatment can save lives & prevent lifelong disability from stroke: Health Minister JP Nadda

Health and Family Welfare Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda today said timely diagnosis, quick referral, and access to quality treatment can save lives and prevent lifelong disability from stroke. He said this while virtually addressing the 3rd edition of FICCI’s National Stroke Summit 2026. Mr Nadda called stroke a major health challenge, affecting individuals, families, and communities, often without warning. He highlighted government efforts under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to build accessible, affordable, and technology-enabled healthcare systems, citing initiatives like the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission and the Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission. The minister urged states and stakeholders to coordinate closely, expand specialist training, and leverage digital platforms to improve stroke management.
