In Chhattisgarh, three Maoists, including a woman, were killed in an encounter with security forces today in the forests of Tiriyarpani in Kanker district. They were carrying a total reward of 14 lakh rupees on their heads. The bodies of the slain Maoists have been recovered. Security forces seized an SLR, a .303 rifle, a twelve-bore gun, and other Maoist materials from the site. Superintendent of Police I. Kalyan Elesela said the encounter broke out when Maoists opened fire on the security forces after a team of the District Reserve Guard launched a search operation based on intelligence inputs about the presence of seven to eight Maoists in Chhindkhadak and Tiriyarpani villages. Among the slain Maoists was Shravan Madkam alias Vishwanath, Secretary of the Sitandi-Nagari Area Committee, who had an 8 lakh rupees bounty on his head
