The incident involving threats made to two judges tasked with resolving the pending list under the SIR process in the district, using the letterhead of the Trinamool Congress’s Cooch Behar district president, has caused a stir. It is reported that the Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court, Sujoy Pal, has directed the state police DGP to take action in response to the matter. The letter, sent on the district president’s letterhead, expressed anger over the disposal of names under consideration and allegedly contained a threat directed at the judges responsible. The two judges subsequently informed the Chief Justice about the matter.
