THRC Takes Action Against Vehicles Displaying Unauthorized Titles

The Telangana Human Rights Commission, THRC, has taken suo-motu cognisance of three vehicles registered in the State for displaying unauthorised and misleading human rights-related titles, government emblems, advocate symbols, press symbols and other prohibited markings. The move follows verified reports and photographic evidence indicating that such displays could mislead people into assuming official status.

The THRC directed the Chief Secretary of Telangana to submit a consolidated report on preventive measures, the Director General of Police to take action regarding siren misuse and impersonation, and the Transport Commissioner to verify vehicle registrations and unauthorised alterations. Vehicle owners have been called upon to submit their responses by the next hearing. The commission has scheduled the next review on the 24th of next month.

The vehicles in question include a taxi bearing the registration number ‘TS 17 T 3437’ owned by Bari Naveen Kumar, an SUV bearing the number ‘TG 09 A 8485’ owned by Bhoorathnam Govind, and another car with registration number ‘TS 09 ES 4687’ owned by Mohammed Habeeb. Observations revealed that the taxi displayed ‘State General Secretary of Human Rights’, Ashoka emblem, an advocate symbol, and a red ‘Press’ sticker, with 12 pending challans worth ₹6,785. The SUV used sirens on public roads and bore the title ‘International Human Rights Protection Commission – Senior Vice President, Telangana State’. The last vehicle displayed ‘Human Rights & Social Justice Mission – Telangana State Chief Co-ordinator’.
