Textile Minister Giriraj Singh Emphasizes Youth Role in Expanding Fashion Technology and Textile Sector

Union Textile Minister Giriraj Singh today attended the convocation ceremony of the National Institute of Fashion Technology NIFT in Kolkata at the Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre.
 
The minister said India’s textile market currently stands at US180 billion dollars and is projected to reach 350 billion dollars by 2030, generating an estimated 3.5 crore jobs. He expressed optimism about the capability of the youth of India to grow the fashion technology sector. He also underscored the strategic importance of jute, and proposed a dedicated fashion show in Kolkata to promote jute-based design and innovation.
 
 
Minister emphasized to increase production of fibre to 30 million tonnes by 2030, stressing the need to prioritise new-age and sustainable fibres such as vegan leather, bamboo fibre and bast fibres.
