Telangana Under Red Alert as Heavy Rain Batters Hyderabad and Surrounding Districts

Heavy rain lashed parts of Telangana state, including Hyderabad today under the impact of the low-pressure area in the Bay of Bengal, while the Hyderabad Meteorological Centre has issued a red alert for the entire state for two days. Director of the Meteorological Centre, K. Nagaratna, said a red alert has been issued today and tomorrow across Telangana.
 
 
Red alerts of heavy to very heavy rain forecast in the districts of Sangareddy, Vikarabad, Medak, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Khammam, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Bhupalpally, and Mulugu districts. An orange alert of heavy rain has been issued for several other districts.
 
 
Meanwhile, Balapur in Ranagreddy district has recorded the highest 89 mms of rainfall today. On the other hand, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation authorities have issued a high alert in response to persistent heavy rains affecting various parts of Hyderabad city. Control rooms have been set up to manage emergency services effectively.
