Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has said the state has the potential to attract investments worth 50 thousand crore rupees through tourism alone and the sector must receive the same attention as technology and Pharmaceuticals.
Speaking at the Telangana Tourism Conclave held in Hyderabad yesterday on the occasion of World Tourism Day, he announced that the State has already received investment proposals of 15 thousand crore rupees following the launch of its Tourism Policy earlier this year.
During the conclave, the government exchanged MoUs with leading national and international investors as part of the 15 thousand crore rupees investment proposals.
Minister for Tourism J. Krishna Rao said 30 projects have been proposed, expected to generate over 50 thousand jobs.
Of these, 14 projects will be developed under the public-private partnership mode with an outlay of over 7000 thousand crore rupees, while 16 will be taken up by the private sector with over 8000 crore rupees in funding.
Tourism Secretary Jayesh Ranjan unveiled a series of initiatives, including ‘Film in Telangana’ to encourage film tourism, a designated medical tourism zone, and the promotion of destination weddings at Anantagiri, Nagarjunasagar, and Somasila.
A Medical Value Tourism portal was launched to streamline patient journeys from enquiry to treatment, alongside the Telangana Culinary Accelerator to highlight the State’s food culture.
A special tourist police task force of 90 members has also been constituted to ensure safety at key tourist destinations.
