Telangana is reeling under a severe heatwave, with temperatures continuing to rise across the state. Nizamabad recorded a high of 42.4 degrees Celsius, while Adilabad and Mahabubnagar also reported temperatures above 41 degrees. Even Hyderabad crossed the 40-degree mark, with most areas witnessing temperatures 2 to 3 degrees above normal.
Amid the worsening conditions, the government has urged people to take precautions, advising to avoid stepping out between 11 AM and 3 PM. Those going outdoors have been asked to use protective gear such as hats or headscarves to prevent heat-related illnesses.
The state government has directed officials to set up drinking water stations across Gram Panchayats and mandal centres to provide relief.
The Met Department has forecast that the heatwave will persist over the next few days.
