Tap water reaches over 16 crore homes under Jal Jeevan Mission: Union Minister C R Patil

Union Minister of Jal Shakti C R Patil today said that over 16 crore homes have been provided accessibility to tap water under the Jal Jeevan Mission.

The Minister said this while addressing the inaugural session of the World Water Day Conclave 2026 in New Delhi.

The Minister said that the Conclave will act as a platform for providing suggestions and sharing ideas on water conservation and sustainable water management.

Mr Patil lauded initiatives like the Namami Gange Mission and reaffirmed government’s commitment of cleaning river water. The Minister further urged the citizens to adopt the practice of conserving and storing water.

The World Water Day conclave serves as a national platform for dialogue, innovation, and collaboration for sustainable water management.

The conclave brought together policymakers, industry leaders, academia, startups, MSMEs, and young innovators to co-create scalable, technology-driven solutions.

On the occasion, the Minister felicitated Jal Shakti Hackathon winners, recognising innovative and impactful solutions in the water sector.

The event was also attended by Jal Shakti MOS V Somanna, MOS Raj Bhushan Choudhary and officials from various departments.
