Tamil Nadu: Annual Festival at St. Antony’s Church, Katchatheevu Concludes

The annual two-day festival at St. Antony’s Church, Katchatheevu Island, concluded yesterday.
 
A total of 3741 pilgrims from Tamilnadu mostly fishermen communities and fishermen from Srilanka attended the unique festival, which has religious sanctity for fisherfolk.
 
A large number of mechanised and non-mechanised boats were escorted by the Indian Coast Guard from Rameshwaram to the International Maritime Boundary Line IMBL and handed over to the Sri Lankan Navy to facilitate the visit.
 
Post overnight stay at Katchatheevu island, the pilgrims returned safely to their motherland. To ensure their security and safety, the convoy of fishing boats was under the escort and surveillance of the surface and air units of the Indian Coast Guard.
