Talks with Kuki-Zo Council first step to bridge trust deficit in Manipur: CM Yumnam Khemchand Singh

Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh has said the Government’s move to hold talks with the Kuki-Zo Council marks the first step towards bridging the trust deficit between communities in the state and promoting peace. The Chief Minister was speaking to the media today during an inspection of the Inter-State Bus Terminus at Khuman Lampak in Imphal.

The Chief Minister held talks with Kuki-Zo Council representatives yesterday in Guwahati, though no formal agreement was reached. He described the discussion as a positive beginning and noted the council’s willingness to engage after nearly three years. Mr. Singh emphasised that Manipur is home to 36 communities and the state will remain intact.
