Taliban Militants Ambush Pakistani Forces, Kill 5 Paramilitary Soldiers

In Pakistan, at least five paramilitary soldiers were killed and nearly a dozen injured today as Taliban militants launched a deadly ambush on paramilitary forces guarding a state-owned gas company team. According to police, at least five security personnel were killed and nearly a dozen injured in the attack.
 
 
The incident occurred near Kot Lalu in the Dera Ismail Khan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, where troops were providing protection to workers from the Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Company.
 
 
Officials say the attackers belonged to the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, or TTP. The militants opened fire without warning, triggering a fierce exchange of gunfire. In retaliatory action, security forces killed at least eight militants, police confirmed.
