Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defense said that it detected Chinese military activity around the island early today. Three Chinese military aircraft and six naval vessels were spotted near Taiwan, with one aircraft crossing the median line and entering Taiwan’s southwestern air defense identification zone.
Taiwan said it has monitored the situation and responded. President of Taiwan Lai Ching-te reaffirmed his commitment to safeguard Taiwan, stating he would not allow Chinese pressure to extend into the island. He said China’s actions prove that Beijing’s authority does not extend to Taiwan.
