SVAMITVA Scheme a Global Model of Citizen-Centric Governance: Dr. Jitendra Singh

Science and Technology Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh today hailed the SVAMITVA scheme as a global model of citizen-centric governance.

Chairing a high-level Survey of India meeting in New Delhi, he highlighted how the initiative empowers citizens to self-map land, reducing reliance on traditional revenue systems.

Dr. Singh praised the Survey of India’s technical support for major missions like AMRUT, Smart Cities, and NAKSHA. He announced future integration of AI and Machine Learning to upgrade technologies.

Emphasising global impact, he mentioned MoUs with Russia and Nigeria and six more in progress. The Minister outlined a plan to complete high-resolution topographical mapping by 2030 with 5-10 cm resolution for urban and rural areas and 50-100 cm for forests and wastelands.

Dr. Singh called for a national workshop to showcase the Survey’s capabilities and its transformation from map producers to geo-spatial enablers.
