Four senior Maoist leaders, including Politburo Member, Devuji and Central Committee Member Malla Raji Reddy, surrendered before Telangana DGP Shivadhar Reddy.
Addressing the media today in Hyderabad, the DGP stated that the leaders surrendered due to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s appeal to join the mainstream of life. The surrender has led the Maoist party’s state committee to be defunct. He said the government’s development and welfare measures started weakening the movement, and Maoists are becoming part of the development.
The leaders will receive ₹90 lakh reward money and guarantees of security and rehabilitation. DGP has handed over a ₹25 lakh cheque to each surrenderer.
Devuji announced his plans to lead a political life and address public issues within the framework of law, citing health reasons for his surrender. Malla Raji Reddy emphasised that Maoism will continue, with their struggle shifting to open, lawful means.
