Supreme Court Appoints Former Judge Hrishikesh Roy as Bihar Cricket Association Ombudsman

The Supreme Court has appointed its former judge, Hrishikesh Roy, as the ombudsman of the Bihar Cricket Association, BCA. The court noted that former apex court judge Abhay S. Oka, who was appointed to the post on March 20, expressed his unwillingness to continue as the ombudsman as the role involves adjudicatory functions.

The matter pertains to issues related to the Bihar Cricket Association. In August last year, the Supreme Court appointed its former judge L. Nageswara Rao as the ombudsman of the association and had asked him to hold meetings with stakeholders to work out modalities for its smooth functioning.

In its March 20 order, the bench noted that Justice Rao had submitted an exhaustive report along with a separate note and had requested to be relieved from the assignment. Following this, Justice Oka was appointed as the ombudsman.
