Super Typhoon Fung-wong Hits Philippines, 2 Dead

In Philippines, Typhoon Fung-wong has made landfall, where more than 900,000 people have been evacuated and two people have died. Typhoon Fung-wong, locally known as Uwan, was upgraded to Super Typhoon before hitting land, with sustained winds of around 185 km per hour and gusts of 230 km per hour.

A weather official had said, eastern parts of the Philippines had already begun experiencing heavy rains and winds on last evening. Typhoon Fung-wong comes just days after Typhoon Kalmaegi, which caused widespread damage and killed nearly 200 people. Fung-wong first struck the eastern Bicol region this morning and passed the Polillo Islands in the afternoon. While it is expected to weaken after hitting land between Baler and Casiguran, it will likely remain a strong typhoon as it crosses Luzon.
