Summer crops witness significant growth of over three lakh hectares this month 

 
The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare has said that the progress of area coverage under summer crops has recorded more than 83 lakh hectare area till the 15th of this month. The Ministry said that summer crops have witnessed a significant growth of over three lakh hectares compared to the corresponding period of last year. It added that rice was sown over 31 lakh hectare area, while pulses were cultivated on more than 24 lakh hectares area. According to the Ministry, over 16 lakh hectare areas were covered under the cultivation of Shri Anna and Coarse Cereals, which is around one lakh hectares more than the corresponding period of last year. Meanwhile, the area cultivated with oilseeds was recorded with a coverage of more than 11 lakh hectares.
