Summer crop sowing covers over 58 lakh hectares across country

Summer crop sowing has covered over 58 lakh hectares across the country as of the 3rd of this month. The Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare has said that summer sowing has seen strong growth this season. Rice has been sown over 30 lakh hectares, while pulses cover 8 lakh hectares. Pulses have recorded an increase, with sowing over 7.02 lakh hectares recorded during the same period last year. The progress report released by the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare shows that Shri Anna and Coarse Cereals were sown on nearly 11 lakh hectares. The area sown with Oilseeds crossed over 7.74 lakh hectares.
