In Sudan, 14 people, including five children and two women, have been killed in Sudan’s Kordofan province. Sudan Doctors Network, tracking the war, said paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and allied rebels carried out the attack, wounding at least 23 others, including seven children.
The violence comes as RSF fighters and their allies in the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North launched an offensive on Saturday in Dilling, the provincial capital. However, the Sudanese Armed Forces said they repelled the assault. They added that the military had recently broken a prolonged RSF siege on the city. The city had endured famine-like conditions during more than two years of siege.
The Sudan Doctors Network has warned of a potential catastrophic scenario, similar to the situation in El Fasher in Darfur. Sudan has been in conflict since April 2023, when a power struggle between the military and the RSF erupted into open fighting in Khartoum. More than 40,000 people have been killed, according to the United Nations.
