Srilankan Navy arrested nine fishermen from Rameswaram for trespassing into international waters while fishing at Neduntheevu near Rameswaram in the wee hours today. Two power boats were seized and all the fishermen were brought for questioning by the authorities at the Kankesanthurai Port.
The President of the fishermen association has appealed to the State and the Central Governments for release of a total of 74 fishermen who are still languishing in the Srilankan prisons.
