Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Defence says special aircraft will carry bodies of 84 Iranian sailors

Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Defence has said that a special aircraft will carry the bodies of 84 Iranian sailors who died on the ship IRIS DENA, which is scheduled to depart today.

The Iranian Frigate was attacked by a United States Submarine in the southern seas of Sri Lanka.
The aircraft will depart from Mattala International Airport bound for Iran.

The repatriation of the deceased sailors’ bodies is being carried out under the coordination of the Iranian Embassy in Sri Lanka.

Earlier on Wednesday, a Sri Lankan court had directed the authorities to release the bodies of 84 Iranian sailors recovered after the sinking of the Iranian Ship.
