Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi Advocates Three-Pronged Approach, Technology, Climate Action for Indian Ocean at 12th Galle Dialogue

Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, has called for a three-pronged approach towards addressing challenges in the Indian Ocean region. Speaking at the 12th Galle Dialogue, the Indian Navy chief advocated for harnessing technology for truly inclusive Maritime domain awareness. He advocated interoperable communication and information sharing networks and mentioned the success of India’s own NISHAR MITRA software. He also emphasised building resilient frameworks and having collective defence against threats. Admiral Tripathi also added that addressing Climate Change is also crucial, as this has huge implications. Tripathi is on a 4-day official visit to Sri Lanka

 

Earlier, Sri Lankan Prime Minister Dr Harini Amarasuriya called for collective action in dealing with traditional and non-traditional threats in the Indian Ocean region. The Sri Lankan Prime Minister added that information sharing, coordination among navies and coast guards and confidence-building measures are needed for maintaining freedom of navigation, respect for international law and responses to challenges.
