Sri Lankan Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya reaffirmed her country’s commitment to sustainable development and energy security through regional cooperation. She was speaking at the Seventh Regional Committee Meeting of the International Solar Alliance (ISA) for the Asia and Pacific Region, underway in Colombo. Calling solar energy a shared regional opportunity, she urged countries to deepen collaboration for a greener, resilient future.
A key outcome of the meeting was the signing of the Country Partnership Framework between Sri Lanka and the ISA. In the presence of the Prime Minister, the agreement was exchanged by Energy Minister Kumara Jayakody and ISA Director General Ashish Khanna. The roadmap outlines joint efforts to scale up solar deployment, mobilise finance, and build institutional capacities for Sri Lanka’s clean energy transition.
ISA Director General Ashish Khanna said the Alliance remains committed to working closely with each member to design impactful, tailored interventions aligned with national priorities.
At the event, India’s High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, Santosh Jha, highlighted India’s clean energy leadership and its continued support for deepening regional solar cooperation through the ISA platform.
