In Sri Lanka, fifteen people were killed and at least 18 others injured when a bus carrying municipal employees plunged into a ravine on the Ella-Wellawaya main road, police said Friday.
The victims included six men and nine women. Among the injured were 11 men and seven women, as well as children, authorities said. They are being treated at nearby hospitals.
The bus, carrying workers from the Tangalle Municipal Council, was on an excursion when it veered off the road near the 24th kilometre post and fell into a precipice late Thursday, police said. An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the crash.
