Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan today held a meeting at Parliament House in New Delhi on the overall development of higher education and school education in the Kota-Bundi region.
During the meeting, Mr Birla said that Kota is a major educational hub in the country, with strong road and rail connectivity. He noted that the Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Kota should be developed along the lines of the country’s Indian Institute of Technology.
Speaking on the occasion, Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said that a plan will be formulated to increase the student capacity of IIIT Kota to 25 thousand in the next 10 years. Mr Pradhan emphasised that the concept of a centre of excellence will be realised at the institute, and new and contemporary courses will be introduced.
The Minister also highlighted several new initiatives at IIIT Kota, including courses in Artificial Intelligence, Green Energy, and futuristic courses aligned with the demands of the global job market.
