In Women’s Cricket, hosts South Africa defeated India by eight wickets in the second T20 International of the five-match series at Kingsmead Stadium in Durban this evening.
Chasing a target of 148 runs, South Africa achieved the target in 17.1 overs, with openers Laura Wolvaardt and Sune Luus scoring impressive half-centuries.
Earlier, India, after being put into bat, were bowled out for 147 runs in their allotted 20 overs. Shafali Verma top-scored with 57, while Anushka Sharma contributed 28 runs. South Africa had won the toss and elected to field.
The Hosts now lead the five-match series by 2-0. In the series opener, the Harmanpreet Kaur-led India suffered a six-wicket defeat. India posted 157 runs for the loss of seven wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. In reply, Laura Wolvaardt-led South Africa chased down the target in 19.1 overs, losing only four wickets.
