Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that Somnath stands tall and eternal and showcases the country’s civilisational courage and unbroken devotion. Mr Modi today participated in Somnath Amrut Mahotsav, marking 75 years since the inauguration of the restored Somnath Temple in Gujarat. In a social media post, Mr Modi said that the waving flag at the holy Somnath Temple is a symbol of the victory of the faith of Bharat and also a divine proclamation of the collective consciousness of millions of Indians. He said that this flag will forever celebrate the glory of the country and continue to inspire every citizen.
The Prime Minister said that a thousand years ago, the first of many attacks on Somnath took place. Mr Modi said that those who kept engaging in such attacks believed that they could shatter the ethos of the country’s land, but they were wrong. He added, the doors of the newly rebuilt Somnath Temple opened in the presence of the then President Dr Rajendra Prasad, proclaiming to the world that while the attackers have faded into the dust of history, the soul of Bharat endures.
