In Maharashtra, six devotees were killed, and around 15 were injured after a wall collapsed during a religious gathering in Jat tehsil of Sangli district yesterday. More than 300 devotees had gathered at the site when strong winds accompanied by heavy rain lashed the area. Nearly 30 devotees took shelter beside a wall when it collapsed, killing six people. The injured have been admitted to hospitals in Jat and the Sangli Civil Hospital for treatment.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed grief over the loss of lives in the wall-collapse incident. He has wished for the speedy recovery of the injured. In a social media post, the Prime Minister stated that he felt deeply pained to hear the loss of lives and said that his thoughts are with the bereaved families in this sad hour.
