My Bharat, Sikkim in collaboration with NSS Sikkim & Department of Sports & Youth Affairs, Government of Sikkim organized Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament 2026 at Gangtok yesterday.
MY Bharat Sikkim under the aegis of the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports in collaboration with the National Service Scheme & Department of Sports & Youth Affairs, Govt of Sikkim organised Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament 2026 at Gangtok yesterday. A total of 25 participants representing different districts of Sikkim shared their views on the given topic of Union Budget 2026: Strengthening the path of youths towards Viksit Bharat 2047.
Basant Yonzon, Chairman State Youth Development Board, Department of Sports and Youth Affairs graced the program as Chief Guest. Deputy Director, MYBharat Mangal Jakhar delivered the welcome address and presented the overview of the program. Each participant delivered a compelling performance, emphasizing that the voices of the youth must form the backbone of Viksit Bharat.
They noted that the Union Budget 2026 reinforces a shift in roles: young people should aspire to be entrepreneurs and job creators rather than just job seekers. The discussions also spotlighted the potential of the Orange Economy. Additionally, gratitude was extended to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting for the recent Sikkim International Film Festival, which successfully projected the state’s creative talent onto a global stage.
Anup Chettri from Soreng district won the first position in the competition. Ekla Limboo and Manjil Sharma from Gangtok won second and third positions respectively. The winners will represent Sikkim at the Parliament of India. Mangal Jakhar, Deputy Director, MYBharat in his address said, youth is the sole and a sensitive force which can make or break a nation. If energy, creativity & potential of young India can be properly channelized; the vision of Viksit Bharat can be executed very smoothly.
The program concluded with felicitation of the winners and the guests and distribution of participation certificates to all the participants. The event was moderated by Kezia Chettri, who represented Sikkim in Viksit Bharat Young leadership Dialogue 2026 held in Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. As a culminating event, the three winners met the Speaker of Sikkim Legislative Assembly, wherein they were presented a token of appreciation from the Speaker for representing Sikkim.
