Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has called on social media influencers and intellectuals to turn the One Nation, One Election initiative into a mass movement, citing its importance for national progress.
Speaking at an event in Bengaluru, Chouhan stressed that frequent elections drain time and public funds. He said, Simultaneous Lok Sabha and Assembly elections every five years would save administrative resources and money.
He noted that the Model Code of Conduct during election periods hampers long-term policy decisions. He added that fixed-term elections would allow governments to focus more effectively on development and welfare. The minister urged stakeholders to actively promote the campaign to ensure its broad-based support and successful implementation.
