Share Market: Sensex gains 1,264 points to finish at 78,111; Nifty settles above 24,200

Benchmark domestic equity indices rose over one and a half per cent today. The Sensex climbed 1 thousand 264 points to close at 78 thousand and 111, and the Nifty added 389 points to settle at 24 thousand and 231. Earlier, markets opened higher, tracking gains in global equities amid hopes of renewed diplomatic engagement between the US and Iran. This led to broad-based buying across sectors, enabling both indices to sustain their positive momentum throughout the session.

In the Sensex pack, shares of 28 out of 30 companies logged gains. Among the top performers, Indigo jumped over 4.6 per cent, Eternal climbed nearly 4.4 per cent and PowerGrid rose 4.1 per cent. In contrast, Bharti Airtel slumped over 0.6 per cent, and ICICI Bank dipped 0.2 per cent.

Among the sectoral indices at the BSE, all 25 sectors registered upward move. Among the top gainers, Services surged 3.3 per cent, Focused IT rose 3.1 per cent, and Industrials advanced 2.9 per cent.

The overall market breadth at the BSE was positive, as shares of 3 thousand and 585 companies advanced, 802 declined, and 126 remained unchanged.
