PM Modi’s visit will open new avenues for Indian investments in Namibia says Indian High Commissioner

As Windhoek, the capital of Namibia,  prepares to welcome Prime Minister Narendra Modi, expectations are running high for a renewed era of partnership between India and Namibia. With bilateral trade currently at around 600 million dollars, the visit is expected to give a major push to commercial ties and open new avenues for Indian investments in Namibia’s key sectors.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s maiden visit to Namibia is being seen as a turning point in Indo-Namibian relations. Indian High Commissioner to Namibia, Rahul Srivastava, says the visit offers a strong opportunity for both countries – Namibia can tap into India’s vast experience, while India can strengthen its presence in Africa, especially in sectors of strategic importance. He said that the discussion regarding the Preferential Trade Agreement between India and the South African Customs Union is going on.

India already has a strong footprint in Namibia’s diamond industry and business leaders are looking forward to this visit with optimism.

Speaking to Akashvani News, Mahendra Shah, Diamond Businessman in Windhoek said the Prime Minister’s presence will catalyze deeper cooperation, especially in critical resources and mineral exploration.

As Namibia rolls out the red carpet for Prime Minister Modi, the visit is expected to spark a new phase of strategic and economic cooperation. For both countries, it marks not only the strengthening of trade ties but also the beginning of a deeper, more resilient partnership.
