Security forces have killed a CPI Maoist commander from Chhattisgarh named Nilesh Makdam, alias Varun, today in West Singhbhum district during an encounter as part of a joint operation.

 

 

IG Operations Michael S. Raj said that the security forces and district police are still conducting search operations in the area. The forces also seized an SLR and a large cache of arms and ammunition along with the body of the Naxalite during the operation.

 

 

SP Chaibasa, Rakesh Ranjan, informed that he had received information indicating that top Naxalites were planning to carry out a major incident on the occasion of this Independence Day.
