Domestic equity indices closed lower today, as market sentiment remained cautious amid persistent uncertainty over U.S. tariff policies. The Sensex settled at 83,536, falling by 176 points or 0.21 percent, while the Nifty ended the day at 25,476, down 46 points or 0.18 percent.

        Broader indices, however, outperformed the main indices with BSE midcap index was ended flat, while smallcap index added 0.5 percent.
