Scrutiny of Nomination Papers for Assembly Elections in Assam, Keralam, and Puducherry to be held Today

The scrutiny of nomination papers for the Assam, Keralam, and Puducherry Assembly elections will be held today, following the conclusion of the nomination-filing process yesterday. The last date for withdrawal of candidature is Thursday. Single-phase polling in the two states and the Union Territory will be held on 9th April, with counting of votes scheduled for 4th May.

Meanwhile, campaigning has intensified in Keralam as the nomination filing process concluded.

In Puducherry, with the filing of nominations for the 2026 Assembly elections concluded yesterday, battle lines are drawn for a fierce electoral contest. Scrutiny of nomination papers will be conducted today, while Thursday is the last day for withdrawal of nominations. The final day witnessed brisk activity, with 326 candidates submitting 380 nomination papers. In total, 445 candidates have filed 514 nomination papers for the 30 Assembly constituencies in Puducherry. Prominent leaders who filed their nominations yesterday include BJP State President V. P. Ramalingam, Congress leader and Member of Parliament V. Vaithilingam, CPI State Secretary Salim, AIADMK State Secretary Anbalagan, and Latchiya Jananayaka Katchi leader Jose Charles Martin.

Similarly, in Assam, political activity has intensified, with candidates from all major parties reaching out to voters to seek public support.
