Principal Scientific Adviser Professor Ajay Kumar Sood today said that the Science and Technology sector will act as a pathway in the mission of Viksit Bharat 2047. Addressing the national-level celebration of National Science Day 2026 in New Delhi, Professor Sood said that the day honours the spirit that drives the country forward.
He also highlighted that women’s employment in the country has almost doubled in recent years, emphasising that women are the catalysts of national progress. Professor Sood also lauded schemes like Vigyan Jyoti for contributing in women’s scientific education, stating that the country is witnessing an increase in women graduating in the field of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.
The national-level celebration of National Science Day was organised at the Vigyan Bhawan in the national capital by the Ministry of Science and Technology. The event featured lectures from scientists and professors highlighting the country’s progress in the field of science. The theme for National Science Day 2026 is Women in Science: Catalysing Viksit Bharat. The theme aligns scientific advancement with the country’s vision of becoming a developed nation while recognising the role of women researchers and innovators.
