Supreme Court has cautioned West Bengal’s Director General of Police regarding violence and political interference during the SIR process. The Court made it clear that if the DGP does not take initiative against objectionable remarks by political leaders, strict action will be taken against the DGP in the future. In the next hearing, the DGP must report what measures have been taken in response to complaints received. The case will be heard again the next month.
