Russian air defence systems shot down 28 Ukrainian drones that were reportedly heading toward the capital today. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin stated this in a social media post. The mayor, however, did not give any details of damage or casualties on the ground. It comes a day after Russia said that it had intercepted 16 Ukrainian drones aimed at Moscow.
Russia’s Civil Aviation Agency Rosaviatsia announced that due to the waves of drone attacks, Vnukovo and Sheremetyevo international airports in the southwest and northwest of the capital had suspended operations.
Earlier yesterday, three of Moscow’s four main airports – Vnukovo, Domodedovo and Zhukovsky – halted flights for several hours, disrupting air traffic due to drone attacks.
Russia’s defence ministry also said yesterday that air defence systems destroyed 280 Ukrainian Unmanned Aerial Vehicles across several regions, including Bryansk, Kaluga, Belgorod, Tver, Smolensk, Kursk, Krasnodar Territory, and the wider Moscow region
