The Railway Protection Force of the Northeast Frontier Railway has seized nearly 60 kilograms of ganja, worth over 29 lakh rupee, during intensified anti-narcotics operations conducted between 20th and 22nd of this month.
According to official sources, the contraband was recovered from multiple locations under the NFR jurisdiction, and three persons involved in its transportation were apprehended and handed over to the Government Railway Police for further action.
At New Jalpaiguri Railway Station in West Bengal, Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel recovered around 32 kilograms of unclaimed ganja in two separate cases on 20th April. In another operation at Agartala Railway Station in Tripura on 21st April, two individuals were caught with over 21 kilograms of ganja, while a further 6 kilograms was seized from a person at the same station on 22nd April. The RPF said it has been carrying out regular surveillance and intelligence-based operations to curb the trafficking of narcotics through railway networks
