Cyclone Montha, which made landfall between Machilipatnam and Kalingapatnam, to the south of Kakinada, close to Narsapur around midnight on the previous day, has now weakened and is expected to further weaken into a deep depression.
The Andhra Pradesh Government is taking all necessary measures to restore normal life in the cyclone-affected regions.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu reviewed the situation through a teleconference, directing Ministers and senior officials to visit the flood-affected areas. He instructed officials to assess losses quickly for submission to the Union Government.
Relief and rescue operations are being carried out on a war footing by the Police, Revenue, Fire, Medical, and Disaster Response teams. Disaster Response personnel are clearing uprooted trees and fallen electric poles to ensure smooth movement and restore the power supply.
The Government is supplying food, drinking water, and other relief materials to people in affected areas. Efforts are also underway to clean drains and remove waterlogging in towns and villages.
Road, rail, and air services have resumed normal operations. The Government has advised people not to cross water streams, stay away from damaged buildings, and keep off electric poles and wires. Citizens are also urged to drink warm water to prevent infections.
