Union Minister of Chemicals and Fertilisers JP Nadda has said the reduction in GST on micronutrient fertilisers from 12 per cent to 5 per cent provides measurable financial relief to farmers by lowering their per-acre cultivation costs. He said it has improved affordability, particularly for small and marginal farmers who are often sensitive to input price fluctuations.
Replying to supplementaries during Question Hour in Lok Sabha, the Minister said as per Indian Micro-Fertilizers Manufacturers Association, the farmers will save 140 rupees per acre in Paddy, 199 rupees per acre in Sugarcane, 446 rupees per acre in Potato and 146 rupee per acre in Wheat.
He added that the reduction of GST on bio-pesticides is a progressive and environmentally conscious policy intervention to generate a significant positive impact on sustainable agriculture and eco-friendly crop protection practices in India.
