Heavy to extremely heavy rain in several districts of Coastal and Interior Karnataka has disrupted normal life. The Met department has issued a red alert in these districts today due to a low-pressure area created in the Bay of Bengal. The schools and anganwadis remained closed in the coastal districts of Udupi and Dakshina Kannada.

The fishermen and tourists are asked to stay away from the sea and riverbanks as rough conditions are expected throughout the day. Belagavi, Chickmagaluru and Kodagu too are witnessing heavy rains, and schools remain closed in these districts. In Bengaluru, too, incessant rain disrupted normal life, causing traffic snarls and waterlogging.
